You’re Just Getting Straw, and She’s Getting Heavy-Duty Dung

by Marissa on 17 September 2006

The subject of today’s post comes from an episode of Wife Swap, an oddly addictive show. There’s a marathon on ABC Family today that I’ve had playing in the background as I’ve done Sunday chores and whatnot.

So, I’ve had two weeks at work, and yes, I do love being back at that office. I still feel incredibly fortunate and happy to be at The Firm, and I truly enjoy the work I’m doing, and the folks with whom I work. I especially continue to appreciate L, my fellow newbie at the office, who makes each day even more enjoyable, as she’s funny and witty and empathetic with any stresses I might have about the job–because she’s feeling them too. It’s nice to go through the "newbie" stages with a friend!

The family is also doing very well; Chaz is a manager at Pizza Hut, Lex got a promotion/new position as a Probation Officer, Mums and Daddio continue plugging along with their embroidery. I got to take them (Mums and Daddio) out to dinner to celebrate my first paycheck as a lawyer, and I loved being able to do that. They said they felt a twinge of guilt for letting one of their kids pick up the tab on a semi-pricey meal, but I was really happy I was able to do that. They never get to eat out at nice restaurants, and they deserve that. Hopefully there will be many more nice dinners for us as a family!

I know I haven’t been posting a lot, but don’t take that as a sign that I’m unhappy or absent. I’m busy at work, and when I come home in the evening, I usually check my email, but then rush to the living room to play with my dogs, who I miss a LOT through the day. If I could get away with hiding them in the office, I totally would–but something tells me that neither Ernie nor Rosco would be easy to keep hidden!

After playing with the boys, I’m usually ready to go to bed, so I can get up early and get to it all over again. And it’s good. I’m happy, very very happy.

Still reading if more of a lurker these days instead of an active poster. It gives me a lot of faith and a great deal of pleasure to see that you are happy in your job at the Firm. I also have a job at a Firm (Chicago) and hope that I am every bit as happy as you are when I start in October of 2007.

Your dogs and house look great!!

Mums and I really enjoyed our “evening out” with you. All of our kids make us proud. This was a nice occasion to gloat in public.
