The 30 Thanks Gratitude Adventure

I’ve recently started a daily gratitude practice. Nothing elaborate, just a few minutes each day when I reflect on something or someone I appreciate. Those few minutes have had an unexpectedly big impact on my days–big enough I decided to share it. So I created The 30 Thanks Gratitude Adventure.

How this works

For the month of November, I’ll be posting daily gratitude missions. The mission might be a suggestion of a person to whom you can say thanks. It might be a small action you can take. It might be just a moment of reflection.

It will be 30 days of thanks, and none of them will require more than a few minutes out of your day. 30 days, 30 thanks.

How to join the 30 Thanks Gratitude Adventure

  • You can jump in at the beginning–start with me on Day 1 (today!) and follow each daily prompt throughout the month. Or you can join in whenever you like, and do just a few. Or do just one.
  • Write about your Thanks on your blog (a few words, a short post, a poem–whatever feels right).
  • Tweet your Thanks, or post about it in your Facebook status.
  • Snap a photo of something that speaks to your Thanks, and post your photo on Flickr or Facebook or your blog.
  • No matter where you participate, your blog or Twitter or Facebook or Flickr or anywhere else, remember to tag your Thanks with #30Thanks so other Gratitude Adventurers can find them.
  • Add your name & blog address or Twitter name in the comments below, so you can connect with other Gratitude Adventurers along the way.
  • You can add the badge below (or the banner from the top) to your blog or posts.

Copy & paste the code below to make the badge show up on your site:

Why?

I believe that gratitude is transforming, individually and collectively. I believe that taking a few minutes to reflect on Thanks (or to genuinely say Thanks to someone else) is an antidote to stress, a mini-meditation, a way to find and keep your center. I believe that Thanks is both a start and an end, as well as a bridge in between. I believe Thanks is healing and restoring, calming and invigorating. And I believe that if we can find a few minutes to focus on Thanks each day, we might just change our perspective. Or our mood. Or our momentum. Or the world… at least the parts of it that we touch.

Get ready, get set… get thankful.

#30Thanks Day 1:
Thank you for (or say thank you to) a friend.

Send a tweet to a friend to say thanks. Write a post about your best pal, the one who’s there for you at 3am when you need a shoulder to cry on. Post a photo of you with a friend who never fails to make you smile. Call up a friend a tell her thanks, or offer to take a buddy out for lunch.

You can choose a friend who’s been there for years, or one you only just met–a friend who’s seen you through thick or thin, or a brand new buddy you just clicked with. Sometime today, take a couple minutes to say thanks to a friend.

See you tomorrow!
