You know those days when the sky is so blue, and the blossoms are so vibrant and fragrant, and the breeze is so perfect, that you figure God’s gotta be just showin’ off, and you’re just darn glad to be around for it? Today was one of those days. Gorgeous. Picture perfect.
So, I went a-moseyin’ around Valpo, and the city? She was looking pretty!
Here are the shots I took… and for as vibrant as they look, it was even prettier in person. I wish everyday could be like this!
I took the first three at one of the intersections I cross each day on my way home from school.

These tulips are in the front entrance of Fifth Third Bank’s branch that sits near the main post office

This next set of pictures were taken at the Valpo Walking Trail. The blossoming tree below is in the parking lot of the park.
The requisite self-portrait… taken sort of “inside” the blossoming tree shown above.
These three trees line the trail beside Calumet; they look very leafy in this shot, but they’re actually full of white blossoms. (Those will show up better in some forthcoming shots.)
Here’s a better look at those lovely white blossoms contrasted against the clear blue sky.

This is a picture taken up through the branches of the trees shown in the photo above.
Pretty in pink!
The pinkish blossom tree is neighbors with a white blossom tree, and the overlap of their branches was so pretty. Like a pre-made bouquet!
I tried to get a photo of the overlapping pink and white branches, but the blossoms on each were so thick that it was nearly impossible to get a good shot of the other tree through them! So here’s a closeup of the white blossoms…
…and a closeup of the pink blossoms.
Another self-portrait under those pretty white blossom trees
A great shot of white and purpley blossoming trees showin’ off, side-by-side. (Oooh–the white tree? Is Katie. The purpley tree? Is me. From now on, I’m going to think of them that way. Best friend trees, Katie and Rissa, being all pretty side-by-side.)

You can see the pink tree pictured below from a couple blocks away, it’s so bright. (The following photos are taken just around town, not at the park trail.)
The pink tree in the photo above is seen below as well, making a pretty canopy over that section of sidewalk.
I stood underneath the pink tree from the above photos and waited until the breeze caught the flag just right so it kind of flew out around the branches… pretty!
A baby white blossom tree grows alongside its big sister pink tree, both looking gorgeous.
I think that one tree is blooming in pink, just to be different. Of course, I felt an immediate kinship to it.
Not to be outdone by the previously photographed pink foliage, the bush below was blooming in both light pink a deep reddish pink.
I love, love, love the pink blossoms! Luckily, there are a lot of ‘em around town.
Here’s another one of those dual-pink/red colored bushes, right behind a bright yellow bush.
The building in the background is the old house that’s been converted into offices and the Greenwich Terrace Cafe.

As I was taking this photo, I noticed the window on the house, and I realized, “People seeing me prowling around their properties snapping pictures of their plants… probably think I’m a stalker.” (Fortunately, if they did think that, they weren’t very quick in calling the authorities.)
These branches were directly above where I parked my car while I was walking around town. Amazing. Looks like a postcard, doesn’t it?
Finally, I leave you with a close-up of the pink blossoms pictured above. Oh, so pretty. What a day!!
