Sayonara, Summer Job!

My tenure as a Summer Associate has officially reached its end.

Today, all around, was a good one. Lisa and I inadvertently wore identical outfits–classic black pantsuits with baby pink blouses. Plus, Lisa wore her long, dark, naturally curly hair down today (she often wears it up) and I curled my hair in tight curls today. Everyone at the office thought we’d planned to be twins on our last day (we hadn’t). When we went to cash our paychecks at the bank and go to lunch, we got asked no less than four times if we were dressed exactly alike because we had to be, if it was part of our job, etc. Lisa said that we probably looked like girls working at a makeup counter, or spraying perfume samples at the mall, with our pretty pink shirts and matching curly dark hair.

Everyone was gracious in their goodbyes, thanking us for our hard work this summer, assuring us that it had been a great experience and that we’d really helped them out and contributed good work. Of course, the shadow of the lack of any indication about job prospects hung over us all day, but that couldn’t be helped.

It was made worse by the fact that some of the B&T Summer Associates from other offices did find out that they were getting job offers during their Exit Interviews. But, alas, I can’t do anything about that. It’s outta my hands now. I worked my butt off, I did my best, and I enjoyed every single minute of it. I hope that results in a job offer. But if not… well, frankly, I’m tired of worrying about it now. I’ve thought about it all day long. I think I’ll curl up with my book or maybe catch some reality TV on the Replay, and let my brain take a little vacation.

I’m going to bed early tonight; I’m absolutely exhausted. I think maybe the tiredness accumulating from this past week and the additional stress of the last couple of days is catching up with me. I am so happy that I can sleep in tomorrow morning!

N8 just called me, so I’m going to go chat with him for a while.

Take care, and check 6.
