Puffy Princess

by Marissa on 10 August 2005

It’s Day 2 of Wisdom Tooth Week, folks, and let me tell ya, my cheeks are plenty puffy! My doc’s instructions said not to use ice after the first 24 hours, so the swelling increased a bit today. But still, overall, I’m not doing too badly. I made it all day today (from 5 a.m.) without any vicodin; just ibuprofen every four hours or so. At 7 this evening, though, I did finally take a vicodin as the achiness was really getting bad. So far, everything seems to be going precisely according to plan. My aches and swelling and everything is exactly as I was told to expect it. I’m taking that as a good sign that I’m right on track for a speedy and hurdle-free recovery.

To make my day sooooo much better, I received a bouquet of purple exotic flowers in a gorgeous, unique, square purple vase, from none other than my wonderful boyfriend N8. I love them. Dad put them on top of the TV in our family room, which is where I’ve set up camp day & night since the surgery, so I can see them all the time. They’re so beautiful, and it was such a sweet and unexpected gesture. Thank you, N8! :-)

Nothing in the mail yet from The Firm, but it’s only Tuesday. Of course, I am hopeful that the partners all met on Monday, voted, and set out the results that day, so that perhaps I’ll get The Letter in the mail tomorrow. But that’s more wishful thinking than realistic, I think.

Sent long emails today to a couple of my friends, Rachel and Ryan, who I met and became close with during my undergrad days at IU Bloomington. I hope to hear back from them soon; I always think of them far more often than I actually write or call. Why is that? With all this technology at hand, why does it take a blue moon to get us to contact one another? I hope they’re both doing well.

Still trying to come up with a topic for my law review note, and so far, still having not much luck. I thought I’d be overflowing with ideas, but trying to think of something that is timely, pertinent, not likely to be mooted or pre-empted, not adding to an already-saturated area of academic literature, and likely to be published, is not an easy feat. Darn that CAFA (Class Action Fairness Act); now everyone is all about writing about Class Actions, which is the subject I’d really like to tackle in some way. But the risk of pre-emption and saturation is so much greater when the topic is really hot. I dunno. I’m hoping that maybe my Complex Federal Litigation professor, the terriffic Laura Dooley, may be able to help me out with my topic search. I hope to meet up with her shortly after I return to Valpo.

Not much else happening . . . it’s hard to have some really exciting stuff to report when the day’s been filled with resting peacefully in the family room recliner, reading magazines and catching up on various TV programs!

Take care, and check 6.
