My uncles Lamont and John are “parents” again, this time to two adorable little girls: Augusta (Gussie) and Gertrude (Gertie). The black and tan one (who is sort of hiding her face) is Gertie. Gussie is the chocolate brown one.
Little Gertie was formerly named Maxine, after one of my uncles’ previous pets, Maxine, who I remember from my childhood as being a really sweet, protective, and smart dog. However, she looked more like a Gertie than a Maxi, so her name was changed. My uncles tell me that Gertie is full of piss ‘n vinegar, and is always “mouthing off.” I dunno–she looks so sweet and innocent in this picture; how could that be true?!

Gussie is named after my uncles’ previous dog Gus, who was an ornery and rather curmudgeonly old fool all his life, but was entirely loveable at the same time! (Sorry, Gus, I think lil’ Gussie has you beat in the cuteness department, though.) They think that Gussie might’ve been the runt of the litter. She’s more shy than Maxi, and not quite as outgoing. Yet!
“Oh dear, this couch looks awfully high… maybe we should just wait here until someone comes and picks us up.”
This is my Grandpa and Grandma (my Mums’ folks) with their dogs Molly (the black & white dog) and Dottie (the ornery-looking little one sitting on Grandpa’s lap).
Grandpa’s tulips sure turned out pretty this year!

Grandpa’s name is Loyal, and Grandma’s nickname is Lane (short for Larraine), so they had a street sign made up for their driveway–”Loyal Lane!”
Couldn’t ask for a prettier picture.
The flowering tree and pretty tulips make the perfect setting for just one more photo!

I miss my family so much! I am definitely looking forward to moving back home and getting to see them–and the many adorable “puppies” too–in the VERY VERY near future!
