Personal Update

Good, and increasingly busy. That’s how things are going right now.

I’m working at a law firm (my landlord’s) for extra cash, so I’ve got a research project for that and I’m filling in for one of his assistants this month as well.

I’ve also gotten my first assignment for the honors practicum (fancied up term for “research assistant”) with Professor Dooley (yay!!), so I’ve got that too.

Plus, I have a cite checking assignment to do for law review (I love, love, love the Note-writing process… the cite checking, though, is… um… I have words for it. But I’m still hoping to get published, so I’ll not post them here. hehe)

My homework load is as minimal as I could realistically hope it to be, though, so that’s a plus. The only real negative is that I really wanted to go home again this weekend for the Ossian Superbowl Party (and, of course, to “wrassle” with one little Miss Dottie, and to give Grandma & Grandpa a very big hug)… but I don’t think I’ll be able to do that, which makes me sad.

Stupid adult responsibility baloney. ;-)

I got an email today from a gal with whom I went to high school… announcing that this summer would be our 10 Year Reunion. Good golly. I’d say, “Oh, this makes me feel so old!” Except… it really doesn’t. “Old” to me is, like… 97 or so. Seriously. Turning 30 in a few years doesn’t freak me out at all. When I’m ready to hit the century mark, that might strike me as “Whoa. I am really getting up there in years!” But otherwise, I just think it’s funny when I hear people my age (or even my parents’ age) say, “I am so OLD!”

(That just made me think of Deana Carter’s song, Strawberry Wine, “…and I still remember when 30 was old, my biggest fear was September, when he’d have to go…” Did you know that song is a waltz? I’m not kidding. If you know how to waltz, grab a partner next time it’s on. It’s quite nice.)

Check 6, and Happy February!
