Back in Valpo, ya’ll. It’s as thrilling as I left it!
Mums, Dad, Nathan, Alex and I worked on packing up my stuff from Mums & Dad’s house this morning, and then we (minus Alex, who was heading back to Bloomington) spent the afternoon and early evening unloading everything and putting it all back away. In addition, I got rid of (and sent home to store) a truly ridiculous amount of clothing and such, so now my clothes actually fits in my closets and dressers like a normal person, rather than having boxes upon boxes of it just sitting wherever because I have too darn much. Sad story, I know.
(There really is method to the madness; my weight sometimes fluctuates seemingly independent of my diet and exercise, so sometimes I’m one size, sometimes I’m another, so I’ve developed full wardrobes for both of those sizes. So this time I sent home the size that I’m not currently wearing, and kept the other, and I’ll switch again at a later date if necessary.)
All in all, it’s good to be back “home” (although I realize I call my apartment in Valpo “home” just the same as I call Mums & Dad’s house “home”). I’m ready to jump into the next, and final, year of law school, and I’m happy with where I am in life, with my job (I hope), my guy, my friends, my pets, my family, etc. I’m just in a great place right now, and life feels good. (And it will feel even better in another week or so when my wisdom teeth extraction sites are all healed up!)
I cannot believe, though, that my summer is essentially over. I mean, I have a week left before school begins, but my summer in Ossian while working in Fort Wayne is really over. It went by so quickly. It just flew. I kept telling Mums and Dad that I cannot believe it’s been 13 weeks (12 weeks of work plus 1 week of surgery & recovery). 13 weeks! That’s 91 days! I swear, it feels like I just got to Ossian. I just moved in to Mums & Dad’s house. I haven’t even started work yet, have I? Too fast, too fast. Whoooosh.
In other news that is very exciting to me, though surely much less so to anyone else, Grandpa and Grandma were kind enough to let me use two of their very nice Olive Garden-esque dinner chairs, so that I could finally get rid of the two chairs I had that were, very literally, in shreds and continuing to disintegrate with each subsequent use. The “new” chairs are oh-so-comfy, wide seats, with cushions, and wheels, and nice broad armrests. It’s high livin’, ya’ll.
AND. . . (oh yeah, that’s right, there’s more. It’s nonstop here.) I am also using/borrowing a La-Z-Boy recliner from Mums & Dad. It’s awesome. N8 was already using it this evening. And Mums said that if we get rid of the loveseat that I have, she’ll get another recliner from their basement to my apartment for our use. Our own “Mater” and “Tater” chairs! I’m so abuzz with excitement.
So now we just gotta unload the loveseat. I really want to somehow take it to the law school atrium and pin a note to it that says, “Dedicated with Love to Valpo Law School, for all it’s given us, from the Class of 2006″ but Mums, Dad, and N8 insist it would be far too much effort for not enough payoff. Sigh. I still think it’d be hilarious. But I was outvoted! So if anyone knows of someone looking for a used loveseat, give me a call or email; it’s free to whoever wants to come haul it outta my apartment! (With my permission, I mean. Don’t show up, beat the door in and take my loveseat. I’ll totally call the cops. Seriously. And I won’t let N8 defend you in court either. I’m vicious like that.)
Hmmmm. I just realized, I don’t really have anything to eat for breakfast tomorrow. I forgot to go to the store. Do I want to go now? Ugh. Not really. Maybe I’ll take a jaunt down the street to Jimmy’s Cafe and get some hotcakes. Or maybe I’ll drive over to Susie’s Cafe to get a biscuit. I love their biscuits. But that’s not really very healthy. Drat. All my best ideas get foiled.
Okay, so I dunno what I’ll do for breakfast. Maybe an early morning shopping trip! While I go ponder this…
Take care, and check 6.
