Got More On Your Plate Than You Can Handle?

I’m able to help. How, you ask?

The Twitter answer: I help you do more of whatever lights you up, makes you money & makes you happy, and less of all the rest.

The somewhat longer answer: I work with creative entrepreneurs who have established and growing businesses. I help you get closer to your “ideal day” by figuring out what you can delegate and how, and by building structure and systems around your tasks or projects so they’re effective instead of busywork. I also lend a hand with a variety of tasks, from customer care to copywriting, web page tweaks to social media management (and all sorts of stuff in between).

You’re in the right place if…

  • You believe that investing in sustainable architecture and adaptable structure to support your business for the long-term is better than continually paying someone to put out fires and clean up chaos.
  • You can talk about being “busy” without coming emotionally unglued, because for you, being busy isn’t a bad thing as long as you’re doing what you love.
  • You don’t want (or are tired of) the revolving door of interchangeable assistants. You want a dedicated support partner who believes in your business and is invested in its success.
  • You want someone to work with you, not for you.
  • You need a strategic partner who can brainstorm with you, act as a creative sounding board, and troubleshoot alongside you.
  • You don’t have time or the urge to watch over someone’s shoulder. You want to be able to delegate and move on to your great work without micromanaging the work you’ve delegated.
  • You forsake avoidance in favor of meaningful change. You believe in finding and implementing long-term solutions to problems, rather than putting quick-fix band-aids on issues and hoping they disappear.
  • You understand that good systems and structures don’t make problems vanish, but that the right kind of support allows you to focus on your great work while minimizing and effectively managing the obstacles that all entrepreneurs face.
  • You trust your gut but you’re not haphazard. You appreciate structure even if creating it isn’t your own personal strong point.
  • The phrase, “it’s not personal, it’s just business” has never felt true to you. Your business is personal, and you’re okay with that. In fact, you probably wouldn’t have it any other way.
  • You sometimes get anxious, feel overwhelmed, or deal with stress (as entrepreneurs, we all do!). But that’s not where you live the majority of your life; rather, your sweet spot is in well-supported smooth sailing.
  • You’re not looking to dump work on someone else or get rid of your to-do list in its entirety. Instead, you’re seeking a teammate who can support your endeavor, work with you, and help you focus on bringing your great work to your clients or audience.
  • You care about your customers, clients, and audience–they’re more than traffic statistics to you. You acknowledge them as people, not as simply hits or clicks. Maintaining a connection to them is vital to you, and you probably want support in scaling how you communicate and interact with them in order to continue nurturing that connection while still giving your business room to grow.

Tasks I can happily scooch from your to-do list onto my to-do list include:

Customer Care & Communication

  • setting up and scheduling newsletters and broadcast emails
  • sorting the incoming email into groupings that make it easier for you to read and respond to them
  • responding to emails (always written in the voice and spirit of you and your business) in a warm, personable, professional-but-human way so that your biz maintains the highest level of customer attention and interaction without tying you to your inbox for hours each day
  • providing feedback on patterns in your email, noting oft-repeated questions, common sources of comments and inquiries, or fodder for future blog posts, articles and products
  • crafting solutions and next steps for those patterns noted above: editing your web copy so that the oft-repeated questions are more clearly answered, adding links to your social media profiles to those common sources of comments and inquiries, and helping brainstorm the structure for those next posts and products
  • creating email templates to provide jumping-off points for frequently-occurring conversations
  • composing autoresponders for your products and mailing lists (because no one should be subjected to yet another default autoresponder–and definitely not your customers!)

Polishing Your Online Presence ‘Til It Gets All Sparkly

  • copyediting blog posts, articles, emails, webpages and other writings
  • revamping a webpage
  • updating social media profile pages so that who you are remains current and consistent across the web (and makes you easily findable by your people)
  • strategizing ways of connecting and utilizing your various online outposts to help you reach more of your Right People in effective–and time efficient!–ways

Helping to Solve Your Collaboration Conundrums

  • brainstorming with you on how to most effectively use your support team to help your business flourish or to simply accomplish a specific project, or brainstorming on locating and assembling the best support team for your time, money and goals
  • crafting a way to help you stay on top of your projects, tasks, and to-do lists that fits YOU (aren’t you tired of it always being the other way around?)

The “not my specialty” rundown

I don’t do event and travel planning. I don’t even like doing that for myself!

I won’t do cold calling. When it comes to customer connections, I confidently put myself at the top of the crowd. But part of the reason for that is I don’t do for other businesses what would irritate me if a business interacted with me that way–and cold calling falls into that category. I hate receiving cold calls, so I won’t make them.

I’m not a call or message center. If you need someone to spend a lot of time on the phone for your business, I’m not the best fit for you. An occasional phone call here and there incidental to other tasks–like calling to verify your account info or to cancel an appointment or check in on something–is fine. But if the telephone is your primary means of connecting with your customers, there are virtual assistants out there who will be more your style than I am.

How to hire your very own can-do-ologist

The Money Stuff

Can-Do-Ology Services are $60 per hour.

  • Hours must be purchased in sets of 5.
  • You will receive a 10% discount off the usual hourly rate when you purchase a bundle of 15 hours.
  • Hours are “good” for two months from the date you purchase them.

The Foundation Consultation

Our work together begins with a one-hour phone consultation session. This hour is free with your purchase of your first five-hour bundle, or it can be purchased separately.

This is where we will dive into the “stuff” that prompted you to schedule time with me–whether it’s an overflowing inbox, a newsletter that needs attention, a to-do list that’s growing faster than you can trim it, a need for strategic-creative brainstorming around a project, or assistance in determining what help you need because you’re just not sure.

In this first hour you will gain clarity around your support needs–whether or not you decide to hire me–and you will receive un-intimidating steps that you can take to begin building your Support Dream Team, to work more effectively with the support staff you currently have, or to start the transition of work from your plate to mine (if you decide to hire me for support services).

Most importantly, at the end of that hour, you will have made the first steps toward a more supported, effective business. Not just planned to take those steps or thought about and researched them into oblivion, but actually taken those first steps. You will have stepped out of the Indecision Paralysis and into momentum!

Note: If you decide to hire me, the cost of your foundation consultation call can be applied to your first purchase of hours.

What People Say About Can-Do-Ology

After seeing how Marissa helped other entrepreneurs, I saw that she might be able to help me, too. There were a batch of things that I was doing that someone with the smarts, skills, and heart could do to help me focus on those things that only I could do.

What’s especially helpful is her ability to create a system and process that makes us working with each other much smoother. Now, when a new Important Thing To Do pops up, the first thing I do is talk about it with Marissa, since she can often take 80% of the work to do that thing off my plate by either doing it for me or coming up with a way that we can do it together.

As your business grows, there will always be new Important Things To Do, and they will outpace your capacity to do them. Having Marissa on my team has made the difference being constrained against keeping up and me being able to handle the right opportunities as they came up. Were it not for her, I would have buckled under my business’s growth.

While her “formal” services would easily be enough to justify hiring her, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that she’s just plain fun to work with. She’s a brilliant brainstormer and excellent sounding board, and being able to explain what I’m trying to do to someone who gets me and supports my work has been amazingly valuable to me.

If you’ve got your hands full with great work and need a team member that will help you have fun and focus on your unique abilities, hire Marissa today. I’m so glad I did.

OK, I’ve been meaning to write this testimonial for a while. I have a tendency to not do all those things I’ve “been meaning to do for a while”, so the fact that you’re reading it is a testament to Marissa’s abilities in itself, right? No? OK, fine. I’ll write the damn thing.

I don’t really know what Marissa does, to be honest. I think that’s the beauty of her. Several times a week (or day) I say, “MARISSA! HELP!” and then walk away to have a nice gin and tonic. The next time I hear about it, it’s just dealt with.

I’ve worked with a number of VAs before knowing what the hell I was looking for. Now that I’ve found it, I realize that what I was looking for was someone who knew how to THINK. Like, if I had time to figure out how to solve a problem myself and then explain every minute detail of it, complete with numbered instructions, I wouldn’t need a VA, would I? I’d just do it myself.

I don’t have to do that here. I just say, in a vague and incomprehensible manner, “We need X” and then some reasonable amount of time later, we have X.

Zero drama. Much gin. That’s just what you want in a VA, isn’t it?

She has been working with us for several months and I would not only threaten but execute self-harm if she ever went away.

There is absolutely no one in the world with Marissa Bracke’s caliber of savvy organizational mojo and utter on-top-of-it-ness — and boy oh boy, have I looked. It’s almost impossible for me to write this testimonial without a few readers thinking I’m full of shit — because ridiculously, she’s just that good.

Marissa’s natural ability to tie up any and all loose threads on a project is amazing. I honestly can’t think of a smarter hire for any business under the sun (or on the web). She has approached each one of our interactions with such obvious care and attention that it’s clear to me our projects mattered to her — and that was before I realized that she was purposefully putting systems in place that would work with or without her presence.

It has been an enormous pleasure to get to work with her. She’s ruined me for virtual assistants everywhere. Don’t bother looking for another Marissa. Just hire Marissa.

I find delegation challenging, but I’m so glad when I overcome it to engage Marissa’s help. With Marissa on task I’m totally comfortable knowing that she’ll deliver what I ask for (and often more). As a result I have expanded mental space for creative work and more freedom in my business.

Marissa is a joy and a pleasure to work with.

I needed Marissa’s help right at a time when I was struggling with my inbox and the busy-ness of my business. Marissa was like a shining inbox-fairy angel. With little introduction, she was able to manage all my correspondence and free up my time to focus on the creative part of my business AND my new family.

Marissa has a knack for fitting seamlessly into the energy of your business — I felt so confident that my clients were being taken care of in the joyful goddess way I intended. I’d recommend Marissa unreservedly and unconditionally, and will be using her in the future whenever I need a can-do-ologist, kind helper & inbox genie.
