Family & Friends

by Marissa on 15 January 2006

I am back in Ossian so that I can be with my family for several days. The reason is already known to my “nearests & dearests,” and suffice to say that I am exceedingly grateful to have such wonderful, caring, and understanding friends who are ready to “circle the wagons” when someone’s in need of a helping hand.

Fortunately, Monday is a holiday (no classes) and I don’t have classes on Tuesday, so the only day I will really “miss” is Wednesday. Also fortunately, N8 will be making frequent vists to my hacienda in Valpo to get mail, newspapers, and spend some quality time with the critters (TM Al Morrisson) while I’m away.

Celebrated my cousin’s 18th birthday this evening with the whole family, over at Grandpa and Grandma’s house. Even Alex and Jilayne were able to be here this evening, so the whole family was here (minus Nathan, who was here in spirit). I was very glad to be home for that, and it reminded me all over again of how nice it will be when I can actually buy a house here in town and live just a street or two away. Grandpa was doing pretty well, though his cath site was just one massive bruise and quite painful, and Grandma’s shoulder continues to heal right on schedule; her doctor is very pleased with her progress. So for all my friends who’ve said they’re sending positive thoughts to each of them… so far, so good! (Keep ‘em coming!)

Grandpa goes in to the hospital early on Wednesday morning, so make sure to send him all your positive thoughts at that point. We sure will be. Until then, though, I’m just so happy that my schedule this semester (and the help and understanding of my friends) allows me the time to come home when I need to, and spend time with the family when that’s really where my heart needs to be.

And, by request of the birthday boy, the legally “of-age” Mr. Samuel Lamont, I will be posting a series of all-time favorite family quotes at It Bears Repeating. True, they probably won’t be quite as funny to those who haven’t heard their corresponding stories (many times over…), but for those of us who have, really, it’s a hoot.

So, happy belated birthday to Sam, and thanks again to my Friends and Family… I adore you guys.
