A few weeks ago I got a roommate.
He’s a pretty good roomie; he doesn’t tend to pick up after himself very well, though he’s more than happy to share his toys whenever he feels like playing. He doesn’t really help with food preparation, though he is thrilled with any opportunity to help clean up (crumbs on the floor, that is). And sure, he doesn’t chip in with expenses, but his adorable way of snuggling in next to me each evening so we can read a book together is just invaluable.
Yeah, that’s right, I got a roommate: Ernie!
Ernie takes his position in the kitchen while I prepare dinner. He’s no slouch on this job: Official Crumb Picker-Upper.
While I have an afternoon snack, Ernie rests on the footstool that sits next to my recliner. He doesn’t like to lay too far away from where food is being eaten, lest a stray crumb fall.

After a rousing game of fetch-the-stuffed-squeaky-hedgehog, followed by tug-of-war-with-lamby, Ernie understandably needs a little nap in his beanbag.
Ernie joins me in the recliner for our evening snuggle-and-read time.
Ernie doesn’t usually last very long into reading time before he nestles down for some shut-eye.

When he wakes up from a nap, Ernie often times has the tip of his tongue sticking out of his mouth, which I always think is very funny, and very cute. He was doing that again the other morning, so I snapped a picture of it. So if it looks a bit like he’s sticking his tongue out at the camera… he kind of is!
**For those of you who might wonder, my other dog Lucy is doing just fine. She continues to live with my Mums and Daddio. Ernie is very well behaved as I transport him back and forth between my house and my parents’, but Lucy gets very stressed out when her routine changes (gee, who does THAT sound like?), and as such, she really can’t do the day-to-day house switching like Ernie can. So, she is doing well and continuing to get very spoiled with Mums and Daddio, and she still gets to chase Ernie around their house each day when he goes over there for "Doggie Daycare." (I take him over to their house each day now, even though I’m not working yet, so that Ernie can play with his Best Friend–Dad–and the other three dogs.)
