Things with which I am Currently Obsessed or to which I am Addicted:
- C.S.I.: I cannot get enough CSI. Seriously. I could watch it all day, every day, and not get tired of it. After one episode ends I can’t get to the next one fast enough. CSI New York is only so-so, but the original CSI and Miami are tremendous.
- CSI Part II: How freaking suave is Horatio Caine? I am practicing that perpetually cool, unflappable voice and demeanor he has.
- Shoes on eBay: Because of my “unique” feet (quintuple A narrow heel, double A narrow toes, and ultra “thin” feet from top to bottom, combined with plantar fasciitis) I have to buy good shoes to wear to work. I have gotten some killer deals on Munro and Ros Hommerson 10N or 10 Super Slim shoes on eBay. Plus, I love shoe shopping on eBay. Just love it.
- Snuggling with the Dogs: I love the way it feels to sit down in the recliner, toss a fleecy blanket over my lap, and instantly be joined by Ernie on my lap and Rosco at my side. Awesome.
- Non-Fiction Books: That’s nothing new; I just am perpetually fascinated by an ever changing variety of subjects. And Amazon makes it so easy to feed that curiosity!
- Fiji Bottled Water: There is no better water, anywhere. Not Evian, not SmartWater, not filtered… Fiji is the best. And such a pretty bottle too!
- Orville Redenbacher’s Smart Pop Kettle Corn. Tasty, relatively low cal, and full of fiber.
And on the work front…
I LOVE MY JOB. I mean, sure, document review is kind of a necessary less-than-intriguing activity, but it’s easy billable hours too. But the research assignments? Oh, lordy, I love those. “Here’s what I’d like to do… do you think you can do some research to see what options we have to get to that goal?” And bam–I’m charged, revved up. Get outta my way, I’m heading to the ALRs. If I find a clear-cut answer to someone’s question, that’s awesome. If I don’t? That’s awesome too–because then comes the fun of trying to piece together an analysis from whatever chunks of knowledge I’ve got.
Isn’t there anything that isn’t rockin’ and rosy? Sure. But nothing huge. For instance, my desk and chair are nice, but they’re not designed for someone who does much typing. It is actually kind of painful to work at that desk, in that chair, for 10 hours a day without being able to sit properly and with posture conducive to typing. But lawyers didn’t traditionally need typing-friendly offices; everything was done via dictation. So it goes with change; sometimes it takes a while for all surroundings to kind of catch up to it, you know?
Got my new washer and dryer today. They have about 143 different settings, digital timers, and I think that if you press the right combination of buttons, they’ll sing, dance, and dust for you too. They’re amazing. I can’t wait to do laundry this week.
