Bar exam: You know you’ve probably studied enough when…

by Marissa on 23 July 2006

In high school, I had an ulcer by the time I was a sophomore. I think it’s safe to say that I tended to take "aiming for success" to a bit of an extreme.

I distinctly remember sitting at the kitchen table late, late one night (or early, early one morning, as I think it was between 2 and 3 a.m.), re-re-re-reading parts of my physics book and doing more practice problems, convinced I hadn’t done enough yet…

…and Mums came downstairs from bed, and literally removed the physics books and notes from me, and "grounded" me from my homework until I went to bed and got some sleep.

I was the first person I knew of that had been told that if I was caught sneaking any homework, I’d be grounded.

Since then, I’ve done much better at finding balance in my life, so that my parents tended to sometimes wonder whether I was actually studying enough at times (the grades reassured them that I must be).

However, it was apparent to me that I’d backslid into Physics-territory when, tonight, as I was leaving Mums & Daddio’s house (I was dogsitting while they were out of town for the day), Mums told me that she was fully prepared to come over to my house and confiscate my computer and BarBri materials if she thought I was studying any more this evening.

It’s funny, because she’s right. Enough’s enough, and when you can start quoting the MBE practice-question answers to demonstrate the inherent (and seriously irritating) conflicting reasoning given in various questions’ answers, it might be a sign that it’s time to step away from the MBE and watch a little MTV instead.

And besides, I don’t want my BarBri books taken away from me… I need to send them in for that refund!

I love that BAR/BRI’s getting the pants sued off of them. Yeah, take THAT, con artists!

There’s a refund for the books? Yikes, I tore mine into sections…

Oh well, I guess I will have to live with the happiness that Bar/Bri will hopefully lose the lawsuit and we will each get our two cents back.
