Courtesy of my cousin Sam, here’s another intriguing–and more than mildly disturbing–entry from our local police blotter:
Entry from Bluffton News Banner police notebook date: March 6th 2006.
Saturday 12:19 report of two small boys playing with an axe and hammer at Water and Williams Sts. An officer found the boys and learned they were being supervised by an adult.
What’s more disturbing about the above? That “two small boys” were playing with an axe and hammer? Or that they were under adult “supervision” while doing so? Who is this adult who saw his boys pick up an axe and a hammer to play with, and said, “Hey, good idea, kids. I never much liked the idea of children with, you know, limbs.”
If this isn’t a stark and indebateable argument for why mandatory sterilization has gotten an undeserved bad rap, I’m not sure what is.
