I am pleased to welcome to my family the adorable Ms. Joey Kathryn Ludmila Espresso!
Joey is a dwarf hamster whose new place of residence makes her “condo neighbors” with my other rodent, Dooley. (Yes, the two hamsters are still here too–Oreo and Captain Furious–but those are Nathan’s pets who just stay here because this is a very happenin’ neighborhood. And it’s rent-controlled.)
In keeping with my tradition of naming my “little ones” after women I admire, Joey (like Dooley before her) is named after a professor at school that I adore and just think rocks–JoEllen Lind (“JoE”… hence, Joey). Kathryn is after my lovely friend Ms. Katie P, the Charlotte to my Miranda. Ludmila is the former pet–named after my first attempt at a hamster here in this apartment who, unfortunately, was crazy and didn’t even get a name until after her untimely passing (gracias to Mike for coming up with that name all that time ago, by the way). And finally, because each pet also has a coffee beverage in their name, I chose espresso–because like the drink itself, Joey is the smallest of the pack but with more energy… which also ties back in to Lind, who also has loads of energy.
Thus… I am pleased to announce the “Birth”/Homecoming of Joey Kathryn Ludmila Espresso!
